Waves crash against the shore,
endlessly, forever more.
Each one a twin to a million other,
identical to its next-door brother.
Each wave sings as it passes under the sky,
voice raised in song, though it does not know why.
Its foamy crest singles it out,
its stage in life identifies is or is-not a lout.
All waves are blue,
but some carry treasures, the sight refreshingly new.
Some are tinted green,
some are strong, and some are lean.
To the sky, we all look the same,
but to each other, we all carry a different pain,
our surface is one, our depths our own,
Inside to keep our secrets sewn.
