Watch Her Bloom

Her strengths, her passion, her revenge

She has the strength of a traumatised human,

Cast aside in the time of need,

Although she was soon standing once more, smile wide,

After everyone watched her fall and bleed.

**

She climbed the ladder of attacks amid bullets flying,

And unveiled the best of her incredible passion,

Allowed the breeze to flow through and push away her worries,

And you thought she’d been downtrodden, in a fashion.

**

She has opened her eyes to gaze from her lofty height,

Pushing through the quagmire of bruising emotions, the crushing pain,

To ride the bandwagon of the welcome train,

Teeth gnawed and smile flashing — you’ll not see her mellow out again.

**

Remember her blonde locks with its untameable curls?

Well she now sashays the walkway with dark bladed tresses,

Armed with hatred and revenge on her heels,

And love and honey on her sexy dresses.

**

She sits on her throne silently contemplating,

The death of her enemies in a slow and steady craze,

Her imagination is wild and has no limit,

Do not underestimate her, she was born to amaze.

**

Stand down and bow when you see her coming,

Trust that you do not want to stand your ground,

She woke this morning to a breakfast of blades and nails,

And showered in a bomb blasts torpid sound.

**

She has taken her wounds and metamorphosed them into her rage,

She has ground those that hurt her into their never ending past,

They’ll not be around to see her fully blossom,

But it was because of them she now burns within tomorrow’s forecast.

**

She rose from the ashes of her burning fires,

To stand before the world, not to be judged or to be blamed,

She’s her own woman and she knows no bound,

Dressed in the torment in which she was flamed.

**

Watch her flower in the days to come,

She’ll shine brighter than the brightest moon,

And forever wander your dreams — or are they nightmares?

Well, I guess you’ll have your answer and it’ll be soon!

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
