Conquest, Conflict and Turmoil

My poetical journey for gathering thoughts from every day circumstances and imaginations began in 2015. Just like any other writer and for the reader, I aim to capture and bring life to the words and create imagination and further imaginations.

Of course, life is full of challenges and plenty of what we see around us we rather not look at or listen to but it's here, it exists for some - sadly, There are many situations, events and circumstances that for the fortunate, those too far away to bear the pain and witness the injury, they/we can just read about 'it'. For those caught, trapped and tangled up in the atrocities, we the onlooker can at least pause for a moment to consider what life may really be like.

This poem is compiled to capture just a little bit of the suffering from war zones across the world.

Warring Times

More of the gentle

Less of the tough

More of the calmness

Less of the tempestuous

Take me to peace

Let more harmony come

Let the hate be over

Render handshakes, not bombs

The elevated, bellowing voices

Filled with anguish and pain

Should be softened and soothed

Like fragrance after the rain

The equation seems quite simple

It stems from hearts of love

But the hearts are so hardened

Full of callouses not blood

The children

Will they know how to laugh again?

Be able to skip without being lamed?

Will husbands return to families?

Give their daughter’s hand so proudly?

The weapons of war CANNOT bring peace

They take lives upon lives like raging thieves

They have no power to bring a resolve

But man, in his vanity allows them to evolve

Leaders, warriors, stop and think

Take instead to paper and pen and sign with ink

Peace treaties which help turn wrongs to rights

Bring back the calm and end the blight
