Walls Before Me
There are days when the walls are high and imposing. And it feels like you can't escape.
I.
The wall before me
rise to heights unknown.
So high
I can’t see its top,
So high
I can’t reach the top.
II.
It’s days like these
where that wall
defeats me
and keeps me
from reaching
the other side
where the world is vast
and open
and free.
III.
These days that wall,
that damn wall,
ruins the day
and makes me forget
how good
life can be.
IV.
It encircles me
And saps my hope.
Is this it?
Is this all?
My hope
(what's left)
says no.
But the wall says yes.
And I fear
it could be right.
