Walking

A Poem

I wonder the earth

Haunted by memories

A mental disease of unforgeting

Weeping over unrealized futures

Uncomfortable in every place and setting

Nowhere to belong

Settling into being unsettled

A lonely heart from the start

Not all who wander are lost he said

The words repeating in my head

Perhaps they’re not lost

Because they never want to be found

Just wander off into the distance

Sapped of all resistance

Embracing the inevitable

Because it hurts less
