Aardvarks are first

But bees feed us

Can’t you see the folly of

Doing them harm?

Everyone loves bees

For the honey

Golden nectar of the gods

How sweet and how lovely

In translucent squeeze bears

Just waiting for tea

Knowing nothing but

Lasting

Millennia

Now the bees are dying

Of us, their bodies

Portents of more to come

Questioning our

Resolve to

Survive

Tomorrow

Unless

Very soon

We do something to shift the

X-axis and

Y-axis toward

Zero

Writer’s note: This is my first attempt at an abecedarian poem, a concept introduced to me by fellow Vocal creator Babs Iverson.
