Waiting for lilacs to bloom
A poem with three senses
First days of May and
I am waiting for lilacs
to bloom. The air is sweet
with anticipation. And as
I wait for the lilacs to bloom,
their past fragrance lingers in my
imagination, a promise of
new beauty to be consumed.
I close my eyes and inhale the scent
of flowers yet to grace my sight,
imagining how marvellous they will look.
Their purple hues, a dazzling delight.
I long to touch their soft petal faces,
and feel their delicate texture
in my palm, to bask in their beauty,
to feel my heart soothed and calm.
I am waiting for lilacs to bloom,
for their beauty to burst forth and shine,
for their fragrant aroma to be consumed,
and make every moment divine.
Second week of May comes.
So, I’ll be waiting for lilacs to bloom,
and let their beauty wash over me,
filling my senses with their perfume
and setting my spirit free.
