Will time ever be in my command?
Will the distant future send
Its greetings of better moments
Of realities which hold no dread
For the present?
Will the clock tick to the beat
Of a heart full of hope
Bathing in contentment
One with joy?
What comes after the stretching second
What hope or story will reckon
With this agonizing pace
This torturous race
For the future
All of which can end
In a moment’s bliss
What end will make these slower steps
Worth the weighted gait
Worth the turns upon turns
Meandering around the possibility
Of a new chapter;
Somewhere along this journey
But nowhere to be seen
Yet
And its that “yet” that can plague
That can invade the mind with its uncertain claim
That something has been ordained...
But oh
What’s in time’s hands cannot be tamed
To our will
And so we must wait
What point is there to think away a state?
And so this soul will settle for same
For moments drawling within the plane
Of the current
Ah
The current
A truth evolves before me
A current
In a stream
And myself barely afloat
Of course;
What with looking to the banks and their mediocrity
And neglecting the flow of things
And how even placid waters
Can carry the slightest power
To carry you gently
To your destination
Maybe that’s my situation?
The current has slowed
And so I think things have stopped working in my favour
But that was never true, was it?
For in Truth, The Plan is still in the works
And maybe this pace will help me see
More clearly;
The view
Free from the distraction
Of endangering rapids
And;
The cliff’s edge
So that I know to jump
Before it’s too late
I guess there is something in the wait
Something in the mundaneness of things
In the mediocre times of our lives
Maybe, just maybe
There is blessing
In boredom
