Wait

Wait

I sat in the centre of a vast sea,

wanting nothing more in this world than to be free.

To get rid of these invisible shackles

and to see anything — be it only your freckles.

but the sea will offer me nothing without a bait,

so all I can do now is sit and wait.

Surrounded by these gloomy, dark clouds,

even if there were, I couldn’t have seen the crowds.

I only desire to see your alluring face,

for I fear I might forget its ravishing grace.

Sitting bare bones beneath the dark sky,

all I want is to run from here and defy.

the longing’s eating my flesh and mind bit by bit,

and if you ever come back, you’ll find nothing but grit.

It’s getting difficult to even cry;

all I can do is sit above the sea and sigh.

But I can’t blame you, my dear,

and let them all come true, my fears.

So I’ll just say the sea won’t let me go,

for it seems, as if it needs me to flow.
