wailing

poem

the wailing i've heard

comes from deep and dark places

where even the angels

will turn down their faces

.

there's uniqueness underwater,

a chill in the air

we shouldn't underestimate

the songs no one shares.

.

keep your eyes open

your hand on the pulse

that throbbing's important

it's what holds us all close.

.

remember the wailing

the diamonds underground

it's worth the distance

if you get to be loud.

.

forcefully reckoning

with each zap of guilt

but their falseness means nothing

to the dreams you've built.

.

chirping and humming

the flicking of sand

the dunes will talk

as though the world's in your hand.

.

think about the past;

how far you've journeyed

and find joy from the diamonds

budding from your heart.
