Bat to Butter

I am a bat

I flutter about this and that

I am a bet

You will lose more than you get

I am a bit

The last straw before the fit

I am a bot

But I'm not the droid you've sought

I am a butt

Without if or and, I follow my gut

.

I am batter

Kneaded to make you fatter

I've gotten better

When churned to get less wetter

I've gotten bitter

When made by a counterfeiter

I wonder if botter

Is really a word that's hotter

Than the sweet, salted butter

That changes with the vowel you utter

.

Batter-sweat and bittersweet

Bladder wet and indiscrete

Move your vowels carefully

Lest you get too awfully
