he always found it hard to sleep

said it’s always been that way

because the darkness was too loud and always had too much to say

..

no matter how he tried to run and hide

he could never get away

the whispers in-the dark

said the things he never dared to say

…

a firm grip

an airway

squeezing the last air away

…

eyes meet

dilate

…

heavy breathing

air escapes

…

every night the same thing

and nothing, again

…

feeling

some kind of way

the game and shame

to lessen the blame

…

open windows and doorways

some say

an easy escape

…

shadowed hallways

evade

disappear and get away

…

always trying to get away

…

too late

…

he lies awake

body shaking

self proclaiming

shame

…

no names

forever changing

evolving

again

…

a chameleon

coming undone

a loaded gun

…

left alone

to face the sun

can’t be undone

what he has done

…

he always found it hard to sleep

it seems it’s always been that way

the darkness was too loud and always had too much to say

…
