Vocalite's Woes
Just keep writing!?

Oh, Vocal, how you love to toy with me.
My heart, soul, and effort go into a new release.
I think, This will be a Top Story, just wait and see.
But all I hear are crickets for my masterpiece.
*
I submit three weeks of worthy treasures,
And you throw me a bone for a 2-hour poem.
Just who is it who evaluates and measures?
Are pieces read by a person with a fine-toothed comb?
*
As for challenges, I volunteer for that coaster ride,
Knowing full well that I have NEVER fully won.
I enter in multiples, each piece with pride,
And hold my breath until the judging is done.
*
And what of the issue of subjectivity?
Surely, that plays a role when rating a story.
Does just one person read, or is it a committee?
Who sends some away in shame and others in glory?
*
I'm happy for winners, so don't get me wrong.
I'd just like to be among them at least ONE time.
Fail after fail makes me question if I belong.
Just maybe I'm no good for fiction or rhyme.
*
I suppose I'll go on and give it one more year,
With emotions swinging high and then low.
Reading, submitting work for my friends to revere.
Because, in the end, I've got great writing to show.
