Viridescent

What is common between my most cherished memories and keepsakes ?

By Sukriti GuptaPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

The sweatshirt he was wearing the first time I saw him

The leaves of the basil I'd planted as a kid with my mother

Jealous jargon

My mother's silver trinket box... and its broken lid

My favourite pair of socks

Some pretty little thing that I don’t remember picking up

A tattered watering can

Living next to the wooden bin

The nail varnish stain on a bathroom tile

That skirt of hers I envy so much

My worn-out shirt that I love so much, it’s been hanging with a pink stain all this while

Strolls with my grandfather for Friday ice lolly; always lime

My grandmother’s emeralds barely clinging on to their delicate string

The rubber handle bars of my old bicycle... now torn in places

Speak of rides and giggles

The balm that I now need... to heal my stiff neck

There's work to be done, I am holding on to my pen

The cover of the notebook has curled from anxious flipping

Someone is calling my name

I guess green became my favourite colour
