Violet veins
They are lithe
Making a multitude of etchings across my varicose body
Disconnecting when they reach my brain
An echoing heart monitor
Plays through a TV screen
Reflecting the same colour that rises within me
And everyone in the house is silent
Their mouths move, but I have turned down the volume
So my heartbeat reverberates endlessly
A doctor snaps a photo
And it comes out purple; leaking
Is this the waste product of a human soul?
It is a bitter wine,
the liquid which imbues my arteries
Filling the elision
Between hopefullness, and ambiguity
With violent purple
