Violaceous

an ode to my favourite colour

Purple like foxglove on the roadside in July

Purple as lilac blooms off the front porch on my birthday

Purple of periwinkles uncovered while raking the far edges of our yard

Purple as that violet mushroom we found dripping with dew amongst cedar roots

You know, the one that told us we'd lost our way and circled back, 'cause we'd recognize that gorgeous fungi anywhere

Purple like the chunky amethyst wrapped in silver, adorning my neck in Thailand

Purple as the walls of my adolescent bedroom, with matching blow up chair

Purple as my sparkling unicorn crown at dusk, entering the festival gates, that regal shade sparkling overhead
