Have I mentioned an almond themed murder mystery poetry book?? Didn’t make it to the Villanelle 2023 challenge but I have finally finished it… in 2024 😅

What came first, the plant or the seed

Of this silly so-called nut?

What can this not-quite crunchy thing feed?

-

Hunger, for sure, but there is a darker deed;

Another feeling within your gut.

What came first, the plant or the seed?

-

A vengeance, a hatred, with which you must plead

Or else be stuck in a rut.

What can this not-quite crunchy thing feed?

-

This warning of an evil you must heed,

For every action will make a cut.

What came first, the plant or the seed?

-

When your gums start to bleed,

You have no strength left to strut.

What can this not-quite crunchy thing feed?

-

The object of bloodlust and greed,

Almonds in your teeth, you wonder what…

What came first, the plant or the seed?

What can this not-quite crunchy thing feed?
