Some days stay

longer than they should.

They sit in the room

like they forgot to leave.

Today feels like one of them.

I watched someone I love

forget my name

and still smile at me

like I was safe.

There is a kind of pain

that doesn’t make noise.

It just learns your shape

and stays there.

I keep thinking

maybe memory is not lost.

Maybe it just moves

to places we can’t reach anymore.

And I am still here

showing up anyway.

still here

still trying

still soft
