When I forgot who I was,
who was there to remind me?
Who am I now?
Does anyone really know me?
I ebb and flow,
like the tides,
like the moon.
Again,
I will be changing soon.
Growing like a weed
left untended,
unmended
from all the hurts in my life.
It isn’t right
that we have to lose ourselves
in others,
in crowds.
Who am I now?
Who do you see
when you look at me?
Am I the same person
day to day,
or does a part of me
go away?
Versions hiding
in dark corners.
Those parts of me—
lost,
but not forgotten.
Who am I
when they disappear?
Who am I
when I’m here?
