Someone asked how I am able

to express myself so freely in some moments,

yet bewildered & stunned to silence in others.

As if I’m faking one and not the other.

There is a truth buried in the assumptions,

I fake being normal on a daily basis.

I wear different masks to fit in

so the same sort of people with a dozen questions,

just leave me alone.

The masks weigh me down and I feel like my skull is caving in,

from carrying so much god damn expectation.

When I wring my hands or rock my body,

the meddlesome must stop and stare.

The same folks with the dozen questions,

suddenly judge me for being too autistic.

The spectrum of me is just a facade to them,

until reality cements its foundation

and drives them off into the shadows of their ignorance.
