UV and Me

I see this light, and it sees me

By Don GranesePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

In light of any spite in you

I claim what I’ve uncovered

An inner me I let you see

Before our love you smothered

I’d gotten close to showing most

Of what with you I’d be

A spectrum that reflects some

Of the you you found in me

But it is more than things you tore

And more than what you gave

I found a light not seen by sight

My own magnetic wave

At first it seemed to be a beam

Too bright for eyes like mine

By liking you, my vision grew

To see new colors shine

What’s left here are the shades so clear

To me, you’d never seen

The greatest parts of how two hearts

Beam light so new and clean

That take the blues and hues of gold

And mixes them with red

To make an ultraviolet break

Beyond eyes in your head

It’s new to me

But I can see

This color that we made

It burns at night

When other light

Falls victim to earth’s shade

And now it is a part of me

And I a part of it

I’ll keep this ultraviolet light

Within me ever lit
