UPWARD HE SOARS
As he’s never alone
<><><><><><>
The clouds roll in;
The thunder roars.
The bird senses the storm
And upward he soars.
To find a safe haven
Where he can end his flight
Is his current dilemma –
His ongoing plight.
He races against
The strong, blowing gusts.
He must somehow find refuge;
Yes, this is a must!!
He can’t live midst the raindrops
And on-going fear
That lightning might strike
Somehow, too near.
The raindrops and thunder
And fierce blowing wind
Are just the beginning
Of his downward tailspin.
He’s sinking too fast
And in his flight of despair,
He finds that his sanctuary
Is nowhere – Nowhere!
He thinks of his life
And all that has past.
He’s losing his battle
And falling too fast.
He prays, “God, can you help me
From hitting the ground?”
The suddenly realizes
He’s stopped falling down.
The bird, in dismay,
Said, “Where were you before?”
God said, “All you needed
Was to knock on my door.
You’re never alone
For I always care
And in case you’ve forgotten,
I hear every prayer.
I don’t always answer
When YOU think it’s time.
That’s why I gave you
A will and a mind.
When you’ve done all you could
To figure things out,
I will always step in
To remove all your doubts.
You’ve done very well
From all that I see.
But you wouldn’t be here
If it weren’t for Me.
Your belly is full,
You’ve a soft nest for a bed.
If not for your mind,
Where would you be, instead?”
The bird had then realized
What God said was true.
He bowed his head reverently
And said, “Lord, thank you.”
With God’s love in his heart
And the spread of his wings,
He flies telling others
Praising God as he sings.
