A Summer Sonnet

Fifteen houses brings you fifteen summers

Suburbia dreams captured in twine nets

The girl who conjured up fifteen lovers

To send them free because time never sets

.

For the girl with five minds, three locked behind

Door number nine ‘cause chameleons can’t

Grow from warm blood else they rot and decline

And of six more only last will enchant

.

That decrepit mansion inside the mind

Dinging lamps flicker to, chandeliers shine

Bring light to the eyes so now she can find

Sea-shanty chests gilded; crusted with brine

.

One flashbulb memory, old salt box by sea

A house not for living, just visiting.

.

.

Next in the Summer Sonnet series,

"Have you ever seen the fireflies dance?"
