Just like that feeling haunting me

The Fog

No!

The brain.

Where’s the list?

Strawberries, blackberries, blue?

No! It’s all wrong!

Back out to the car.

I need that blasted list!

The air…

It’s soaked with dew.

The pressure weighs me down.

Those eyes, I’ve seen them before.

From behind, they’ve followed me.

Shake that feeling off - I’ve found the list.

Crumpled on the floor.

Forgotten!

Unwanted.

Just like that feeling haunting me.

Those eyes!

The touch that lingers; that never was.

Back down the aisle.

Alone.

But that feeling.

Crackers, cheese, grapes - I grab what I need.

Fill the basket with whatever I want.

I pray that if I forget the list, I’ll forget those eyes.

Swipe the card.

Pack the bags.

Pass by the shadow waiting for me.

The lingering nightmare stealing my thoughts.

The fog rolls in hovering over the blacktop.

My stomach churns.

Those eyes glare at me from behind.

Perhaps they are just passing by.

I drop the list, like a clue for someone.

Anyone!

Knowing.

Sensing.

The shadow within the eyes will soon control me.

I need that blasted list!

Damn it!

I turn to reach for it and suddenly…

The headlights!

The horn!

It’s the blasted alarm clock.

Another bleeping crazy dream.
