A Poem

By Alex Fevry JrPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

From my mind's eye of black and white

to my sacral loins a deep red

The other points locked from me

it's crushing what I see.

.

A world awash with shades of grey

chosen for, or given before, a person can look inside to reveal

The inner self and the discoveries it holds

gets algorithmically flushed in exchange for green folds.

.

None seem to be immune, the data beast constantly consumes

Pointing right back at us, a grey attuned to our hue

To have our hands raised, pressured to say

" Hey I'm only you-man"

Acceptable-- pulling at green and if not, words that still feel real.

.

They taught us to color in the lines of boxes

Now through numbers and lines they color us to put in boxes.

The blue waves from the screens

that keep us up at night

Instead of the blue waves of the beach

that rests the spirit, before returning to the fight.

.

Look inside, find the inner you and it's hue.

To look around and view the things that ring true.
