Unsullied eyes

Savour the gleam in another's eye

By Nick LanePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

shine O’ shine, you empty light

caw and fly, your feathers my soul, trickle from the sky

shine O’ shine, you swelling night

shimmer and twinkle, my little green sprite

I can hear your cry, in the woods, in the fire

I see blackened sight, bogged in mud

beckoned by the mire

fix your gaze, still dyed with fright

beyond locked gates of self-respite

in the eve, in the dark

an endless potential tethered and bound

untainted, waiting to be found

through concrete skies

slated and grey cast in your eyes

shatter your shackles, let tears of repression

sharpen and tackle -

ashen walls of listless expression

may they break and scatter

fille and stuffed with new green matter

so the stars inside, thought nestled in the sky

may finally shine through lilac eyes

and night cry, welcoming two new beacons, to lighten her sighs

let colour encroach on glass pupils, spill into the soul

so dimples might rise and forgotten smiles may come to life.
