A swelling sea

of unread stories flashing red

drowning the screen in a hundred voices

all shouting for a piece of your time.

We signed up in good faith

never expecting the algorithm

to turn into

this tidal wave.

Now a hundred stories a day

chase our attention

an endless media feed

leaking into our quiet spaces.

Ping. A narrative we did not ask for.

Ping. A superficial update we will never open.

We wade through this noise

dragging our thumbs through

endless

endless

endless

scrolls.

Down past the bright traps

and urgent, not urgent, text

seeking the basement of the page

for hope buried in microsopic grey.

We deserve an escape hatch.
