Unspoken Goodbyes

When a loved one passes without warning

By Taymaraeè TriplettPublished 4 months ago • 1 min read

The morning came with a quiet sigh,

I saw the doors close, and knew you’d fly.

No words left spoken, no final embrace,

Just the empty space you used to grace.

I wasn’t ready, the shock was deep,

A love so strong, now I must keep.

I woke to find you’d slipped away,

Leaving me with things I didn’t get to say.

We talked of everything, no walls, no fear,

Now I long for the sound of you near.

Your wisdom, your laughter, your gentle smile.

All of it lost in just a little while.

I feel the ache in places untold,

A love so fierce, so strong, so bold.

The void you’ve left is hard to bear,

But I’ll hold your memory, everywhere.

I wish for one more word, one more glance,

To speak with you just one last chance.

But though you're gone, you're not far away,

In my heart, you'll forever stay.

For you were my heart, my guide, my friend,

And though I couldn’t say goodbye,

This love will never end.
