Unshadowed

If briefly

In darkness, her world is oft drear,

Yet hope shines bright, her heart to clear.

A ray of joy in night's abyss,

A reminder of strength, a soul's bliss.

Her laughter rings, a sweet refrain,

A symbol of resilience, to remain.

Graceful and free, weightless her heart,

Like sun, her spirit doth impart.

This moment rare, a gift from above,

A glimpse of self, unshadowed by love.

Her weary soul, with battles fought,

Yet in this ray, her strength is brought.

Though fleeting may it be, this light,

A beacon of hope, a sun-kissed sight.

Her future, heart, and mind to guide,

A soul of uniqueness, one of a kind.

The poem shines through with the lightness and peacefulness of the hope it speaks about. Well crafted verse and easy to follow. It gave me the feel of Dickinson’s poem about hope but more like an extended less metaphorical version. Only notes are a slight confusion with “her,” when does it refer to personified hope and when to the woman whose “weary soul” hope is meant to be a beacon. Also, “oft” and “doth” though properly used do not seem well fit with poem’s overall diction. Beautiful poem.
