Unseen Change

A poem

I’ve changed
No one has noticed yet
Being boxed up and cast aside during adolescence
Had serious consequences
For both parties involved
They already hated me
More than a decade ago
It’s unheard of, I know
People don’t change in everyday life
But I decided I had to
When everything and everyone caused pain
I had to look at things from a completely different perspective
Acting out of one’s own wounds serves no one
Everyone did the same thing, driven by their pain and mine
I am not their free therapist
And yet, they decided otherwise
There was profound insight in that
Now I am reclaiming myself
A psychologist without a degree
C’est la vie
I have more on my plate than I can handle
I don’t have time to write it all down
I need ten heads and twenty hands
And yet I have only one head and two hands
That have to cope with it all on their own
Since life is no joke
I focus on photographing the light around me
To feel that I’m maintaining control
Which, unfortunately,
Has spiralled out of control
I am restoring balance
Hoping for that bright future of mine
