Unsaid Things

Some things can't be told.

Not everything is fit for sharing with fellows

Things exist that must be carried into the ether

Better that they be left unspoken of without good cause

For they are things which told you it was time to take a breather

Some stories are better left alone in their mythological existence

For they are the stories that make even the wildest of us look bad

Nothing in this world truly justified their unfortunate births

For they only exist in a world that has become truly sad

Tales in the night deserve to be wives' tales

Stories told to scare all the little wee ones coming up

Turn those tales of wrongs and their consequences into something good

And let the truths of those stories never spill out of thy cup

Secrets aren't meant to be shared with your fellow pals

For they were kept quiet for the greatest of reasons

They are the things that exist in our remorseful minds

As our lives move on, hoping for better seasons

And while the truth may set the milder mannered ones free

The cost of freedom is never going to be set at zero

Sometimes freedom comes at the price of another's soul

Because sometimes freedom comes from a quiet hero

There are those truths which carry the heftier of tolls

And guarantee the unhappiest of endings to one's story

Those are the things that a hero will step up to handle

Taking it upon them to handle the details so gory

Unburdening yourself through the telling of the unbelievable tale

It's never going to give the feeling that you so desperately crave

For to tell the entire tale sometimes costs somebody else

And that pain you caused them will follow you into the grave

There is no sunshine at the entrance to the garden of truths and lies

Not until you pick the path and bear the cost your choices bring

Only then can you feel the relief of doing what's right

Only then can you escape the pits, and hear the angels sing

You may spare them all for your unspoken slights

And escape the damnation to the sufferers' well

Carry the ugliness with you into those forever nights

There's only one who can truly free you from the grasp of hell

Hell may have no furries greater than a woman scorned

To escape those furries, one must make a choice

Bravely carry the sins of this world with silent resolve

And speak not of the darkness with your voice

There are such things that must remain kept

Kept to protect those who should not suffer their cost

Be the hero who carries the load into the end

And pray to be lucky it's not thy soul that is lost
