Unresponsive

This is a silent, loud, and eternal poem about a loved one dying in the hospital.

I rushed to the hospital. The smell of old people filled my nostrils.

I look around to find my mother, my breathing gets heavier.

The doctor comes outside, wearing a frown.

"I'm very sorry. I went to check on your husband. I found him unresponsive"

Those words echoed in my head.

My weak mother falls to the ground.

He left us, too early.

I don't think we will survive without him.

I look into the room, where he lies.

He’s dead, gone forever.

I guess he’ll never actually get to see me graduate.

It was a tough ride home.

We step inside and see the pictures of him smiling at us.

Father, please come back home.
