Unrequited Love

We adopted a sweet kitten

with little white mittens

who loved her human mum the most

But her human male figure

who loved her much bigger

was treated by the kitten, like a ghost

He petted the kitten and treated her fair

and doted on her every whim

But the little cat

didn't care about that,

and still preferred her to him

Try as he might

even in the middle of night

the kitten would cuddle only with she

Until at long last

after two years has passed

the full grown cat went and snuggled with he
