Unrequited Eden

You can't always get what you want

Innocence lost yet lovely still

What more can be said?

Full of youth and yet so wary

Living an age not her own

No explanations given her

No hope to find

An enigma she is of sweet and sour

A dangerous and sullied angel

It's a style all her own

And yet the fabric is forced upon her by others

A forbidden fruit that I long to taste

Tree of life unyielding

This morning I received denials on two of my poems because they are not 100 words. But they are my words and they just happen to be under some strange 100 restraint. Short form poetry is a vital piece of the artist realm. If 100 words is the limit, magnificent poets like Emily Dickinson, Langston Hughes, Robert Frost, Wm Shakespeare, Gyles Brandeth, and Walt Whitman would be denied publication repeatedly on your site. Invictus is only 103 words. It is that close to being lost in your arbitrary limit setting for poetry.

I understand having a limit in any form but poetry. However the idea that you must submit 100 words is just plain wrong.
