Blank canvas she's become

No darkness, but no dawn

No sunlight in the sky

She's unremarkable

The echo of a voice

A memory in your mind

What happened to the girl

Who one day shone so bright

She sits back, smiling

Shows up, but like a fog

She's gone before you feel

The brightness of the sun

She watches from afar

Tries to get comfortable

She lays colors aside

She used to love them so

When doors shut, she retreats

Further inside herself

Cries to her loving God

The only One who cares

She's lost, quiet and sad

Feels unworthy of love

What's truth now? What's a lie?

She's unremarkable.

He tells her that she's loved

She only feels the pain

There's hope, He promises

She can't feel past her skin

She sang once, all the time

Others enjoyed her voice

It's broken now, she knows

Doesn't try anymore

Blessings seem to abound

They happen to her, sure

But inside she's a shell

Waiting to be no more

Be thankful, girl, wake up

There's air inside your lungs

It smells of past regrets

And long-forgotten songs

Lay your troubles aside

Breathe in some hope again

I try, dear God, I try

Don't let me go again!

Blank canvas I've become

No darkness, but no dawn

No sunlight in the sky

I'm...

No, daughter.

You're not.
