Golden locks make it ok to finely dine from silver, polished platters.
Yet, when life’s paintbrush splatters
I answer it in yellow.
Unlike cowards.
More like flowers...
That bloom after showers.
I’ll withstand the rain.
I’ve made lemonade
with less
but I must contest
there’s been a windfall of pain.
And sorrow.
I’ve borrowed
tissues along the way.
Imagining sunrays and brighter days.
To make things okay.
It has not been easy,
And I’ve not hit every mark.
And I’m less than perfect.
Although perfectly picked apart.
My ability to emerge from dust
means I must
take sips of raindrops.
Stop me; they won’t.
Slow me; they don’t.
Pluck me; they can.
Just remember I began
As a tiny sliver of yellow
Smeared and ran
Down a canvas via ink
And metamorphosed into what makes me unique
Tickling the tiny hairs of your nose
Ushered into the sweet smell of pink.
