Unfollow

a poem about closing doors left ajar

By Gill In MotionPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

Healing from a broken friendship isn't easy. Before this poem revealed itself to me, I was reflecting on the times before social media, where people would part ways and never see each other again. I didn't hesitate to press the block button, but somehow how I struggled to hit unfollow

Before I hit,

The Unfollow Button

I contemplate…

knowing that as soon as I do it,

her page would be forever private,

closing the door I left ajar.

It was painful,

and I wanted to cry.

But a smile spread across my face instead.

After I hit,

The unfollow button,

I took a breathe in,

and breathed out

lighter air.
