When blood’s thicker than water
It’s hard to stay afloat
Those heavy waves are broader
When there is no lifeboat
Betrayal is far wetter
Those waters clear as mud
Distain flows so much better
‘Cause it’s thicker than blood
I paddled and I backstroked
Against a mighty current
Suspended in those rivers deep
By one major deterrent
I knew I shouldn’t hold my breath
Or wait around for them
While wading in a pool of death
I’d do my best to swim
Condensing and distilling
It’s difficult to breathe
While my lungs were filling
They chose that time to leave
The depths would soon deprave me
That anchor brought me down
I knew no one would save me
Or even watch me drown
I floundered through my troubles
Past all I had been taught
The deep end filled with bubbles
And that’s when I got caught
What lies beneath gets hungry
With actions justified
And famished whirlpools wrung me
Out on the other side
Breaking points lack mercy
The seas won’t dispel thirst
I’m not the one who started this
That water hit me first
There’s two coins left to barter
To add to my well wishes
I’m waving at the shoreline
And sleeping with the fishes
