“Forget what hurt you,
but never forget
what it taught you.”
This can apply to anything
from personal grief to ‘collective struggles’,
and
whilst the pain and hurt may eventually go,
we will never forget ‘the lesson we learnt.’
It's a start.
A traumatic event
can cause deep emotional scars
which linger
long after the physical pain has gone.
Forgetting,
letting go or even forgiving
releases our minds
from the chains of the past,
allowing us to move forwards
in our personal lives.
It's a start.
This is good for our mental health,
freeing our minds
so that we start to look at life
today and tomorrow.
When we embrace our experiences in life,
both good and bad,
we start to understand ourselves better.
