Under the table, under the chair,
Under the rug is another stair.
Under the stair is another hall.
Under the hall is another wall.

Under the wall is another bed.
Under the blanket, a sleepy head.
Under your pillow, tucked from view,
Something is dreaming that it is you.

Under the dream is another night.
Under the dark is another light.
Under the light is another room.
Under the floor, the flowers bloom.

Under the flowers, under the ground,
Something is listening for a sound.
Lie very still till the dreaming's through.
Someone is waiting to wake as you.
