Something Rare

By J.W. BairdPublished 4 years ago • 1 min read

I look into a mirror and I see the true happiness hidden deep beneath my smile. For a minute I think to myself I do have those rare moments when I see a self confident inner beauty.

My thoughts begin to reminisce of days once found within my youth. A young, strong, independent, indigenous woman who thought I can do anything I put my mind to.

A heart made of gold, always wanting to help others see the potential within themselves. A hurt within my own soul deep enough to know that no one should have to live in darkness alone.

Living through a lifetime of struggles, and only a handful of meaningful memories. Knowing that putting others before myself only led to my own pain.

Something rare to me I need to dig down deep each day to find... is a glimpse of hope for better days. I seek, I hope, I pray! My Happily Ever After finally coming to life one day!

Who Am I?

I keep asking myself. I spent half of my life as a single mother. Pushing myself to be the strong independent individual that I have always been. My kids have grown and my life seems turned upside down.

I now search to find myself!
