Unchosen Silences | A Duplex

Today in a poetry work group class I learned how to write a form of poetry called a "Duplex" invented by a man named Jericho Brown. He seems to be a very interesting man of which I have a lot in common with so you can expect to see some inspired poetry about him coming soon. This is the 2nd time the topic of banned words has appeared in my writing. It is something that is important to me.

Where unchosen silences abound
people whisper silently inside.
--
Silence whispers, inside people
like an old woman saying 'elderly".
--
An old woman, elderly, saying words
banned in a country no longer free.
--
Familiar but banned in a country enslaved
where freedom to express is slipping away.
--
Expression and freedom slips away from us
with each banned word, logic disappears.
--
Logic disappears in puffs of banned words.
Woman, Disabled, Elderly, soon unheard.
--
There are elderly disabled women
where unchosen silences abound.
