A Poem

I call to you,
but you’re not there.
I can’t find you anywhere.

No notifications,
texts left unread…
I’m always worried that you’re dead.

Not enough time
to create something more,
so much that could have happened,
but each lengthy departure

feels like a door slammed in my face.

I wish there wasn’t this space between us,
leaving me in wonder and worry…
but why am I in such a hurry?

It’s likely you’re dealing
with your own crushing weight of humanity,
and that is probably
what’s keeping you from me.

But silence is deadly,
and when you don’t reach out to me,
worst-case scenarios fill my mind.

I know you’re not the kind,
but accidents happen.

And we’re not in control
of what others do…

All I can really say
is that I wish the best for you.

I hope you’re okay…
and I hear from you again someday soon.
