(Subtle Space Satire)

1

We blasted off from Canaveral

the finest crew you’ve ever seen

our spirits higher than the Van Allen Belt

Ooo Rah we were keen

SpaceX supplied their latest ship

a sleek and sturdy craft

supported by the latest NASA tech

nothing was understaffed

2

in a low drift elliptical orbit

we made two near earth passes

Space Ranger Labs had supplied us all

probe proof bionic arses

There’d be no glowy ET fingers

probing our space ranger sphincters

our faecal evacuation systems were sealed

do I need to be succincter?

3

interstellar exploration

voyaging beyond the stars

if you look out the window to your left

you can wave as we pass Mars

if you ever leave the safety of earth

ya gotta take one for the team

lay back and think of New England

because in space no one can hear you scream

Ch…

everything was going to plan

everything was fine

Until we ran into the

Tentacled Xeno from Sector 9

our augmented rectums were no match

our defenses and pants were down

extra-terrestrial cheek spreading tentilla

was almost touching brown

surreal poetry

This is a great story for the Challenge! I really mean it. Have you ever thought about turning this poem into fiction? In the case of fiction, you have to accept that not all sentences will be poetry, but there are moments that allow your prose to shine. I am sure that yours will shine beautifully like this poem :)
