Two Sides of the Same Place

Different yet the same.

By HopePublished 2 years ago 1 min read
Downtown Sacramento, CA

Let's play a game.

Do me a favor

And sit. Lest for a mo-

Make a list;

What comforts you,

discomfort too

And what those words mean to you.

I'll start with;

Slumber

Gluten-free bread

Hazelnut-chocolate spread

Nature's beat drum humming

Birds flying!

Up so high, highing

Rain with flashes enlightening.

In lame terms,

Too much and it's never enough.

Comfort's cup is gold and stuff,

But in the end,

Radical to the why's, who's, and what.

Discomfort blurs.

It churns.

Growth.

Comes with luck,

but runs stuck.

The grind.

Out of bed.

Fighting intruding dread,

Leaving when you want to stay,

Staying and being brave.

For the sake,

Discomfort is challenging your happy place.

We use words without regard.

Make what we will, of it's remark.

Words like "comfort food"

When to eat isn't a want, but a need--

An inherent necessity.

Comfort doesn't feed

Your body, but more your soul.

Which makes comfort a privilege, not a goal.

But we, human beings

Beat comfort until it bleeds...

Follow your nose

Whether it be hot, or cold,

Who you grow can still throw stone

Be it young.

Be it old.

Never be too stubborn

To breathe

And let it go.
