Two Sides of One Story
Say It Plainly

One asks questions; the other sets things in motion
Both inhabit a world of strong women
Psychotherapy and fashion
Psychotherapy and crime novels
What else can be inferred?
Eyes wide open
Mouth asking question after question
No wonder you want to know
Your life is one long uncertainty
Here one moment, there the next
You’re constantly on the move
With nowhere to drop anchor
You floored me with that one
How could you think I’d swallow that?
You can’t assume everyone is the same
If they were, the world would never move forward
It would drown in disgrace
Everyone would follow the same path
Towards the annihilation of all humanity
Fuelled by television, children fed on games
Discovering their identities
While forgetting the roots of their own history
Mothers vie to outdo one another in complaints
Competing to be the best
Family comparisons spilling over into the social sphere
It’s unhealthy!
Poison ivy wrapping itself around our ankles
Infecting our minds
He who shouts the loudest has the most to say, and yet…
It means nothing
Professors hiding away in their homes for half a century
Fifty years without seeing a doctor
Followed by pangs of conscience
Over the state of things here
If this is what it looks like, I want to escape
To a place where what doesn't matter to others matters to me
I’m starting to think about a vacation
To places no one has ever reached
At least there, I won’t find another reason to kill myself
