One, two, three, four…

Anxiety comes a knockin’ at my door.

An unexpected, unwelcome guest, to be sure

But maybe, this time, I’ll act mature.

Typically, Excitement comes tap, tappin’ on my gate

Energetically enters… a package deal, party date

Seldom an impervious mood it fails to elevate.

Nine, ten, eleven, twelve…

Stressin’ over issues needin’ to resolve

Visit a Psych who’ll quiz, question and delve

Dream up a fresh diagnosis, but… Reality, he’ll shelve.

Anxiety asks, “What’s wrong with Excitement?

It makes a great pal… except for those, hoping life will be silent.”

Depression dogs Anxiety; hounds Happiness and Excitement

Swallow a fistful of pills to keep Moods and Conduct compliant.

Unacquainted with bouts with Anxiety and Depression

Happiness and Joy flee… lacklustre life’s now full on stressin’

Can Peace and Pleasure flourish, amid exuberant Excitement’s suppression?

Anxiety hits Reset — dubiously allows Excitement full expression.

Excitement eagerly embraces Extroversion

Anxiety worries that ADHD’s distractions will worsen

And so, they see-saw; tilt and tip; parry back and forth, beyond all reason

Wonder which will come out on top. I’m clueless… I’m confessin’!

Inspired by the stressful quest for ADHD diagnosis… or not. The Psych seems to have a jarful of colourful diagnoses. He bizarrely bypasses the common or obvious, and fixates on the obscure, which not one single person in the patient’s orbit concurs with. It’s enough to spark a whole new gamut of symptoms.😵‍💫🫣🥺
