Tarnished!
She leaned in,
peered into the mirror’s
mottled depths,
then reared back
disbelief washing over her
Vanished!
She, the ‘Belle of the Ball’
was nowhere in sight.
Lies!
The mirror couldn’t lie
Not tonight!
Their night
His ‘Darling Debutante’
no longer returned her gaze
Time, the cruel taskmaster
decreed instead that a
creased and careworn face
looked out at her in a daze.
The Mirror
hadn’t lied…
the years had fled
leaving her stranded
Alone
Without Him.
