Trust Issues

My heart, is deceitful above all things. Although it can't always be trusted, it can't be left all on its own.

My heart‐

deceitful above all things.

Can I trust the very thing in me that pumps life?...

If it's willing to lie to me to see it's own will?...

The very thing that leaves me lost‐

leaving my mind to pick up the pieces,

the bread crumbs of my spiritual diet‐

to trace the steps left behind by my heart's feet,

always chasing after.

My heart‐

deceitful above all things,

and the biggest liar I know.

Always crying wolf,

but on the day I don't show up,

will be the very same a predator is actually present.

What will I do if I come to see just the remains?

It wouldn't be the first time,

that I stood over a mess of broken glass,

in a pool of blood and tears, mixed together.

My heart‐

deceitful above all things,

it doesn't intend to hurt,

but at times it does,

because it, itself is hurt.

My heart‐

I must guard,

at all times.

I must keep in my sight,

at all times.

It often can't be trusted,

but it's far too vulnerable to be left out in life's wilderness.

My heart‐

deceitful above all things, but‐

Where would I be without it?

About the Creator

JM

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
