Broken Vows

she spun around, fists flying, unending love, just met its end

the black and blue he gave her, imprinted like tattoos, on her skin

the tears weren’t for the aching, but for the brokenness within

she vowed it was the last time she’d be a punching bag for him

a roadside dispute was the result of a road trip they were on

spending some time together, to explore where they’d gone wrong

alone and unattended, they’d go where they don’t belong

like a sad and bitter ending to a country western song

by the time that help arrived, things had gone way too far

they found them both together, unresponsive in the car

heartbreak

Ouch to every single brilliant line! A thing of malevolent beauty silently punctuated by the gasps of the reader!
